Mobext, the mobile marketing arm of Havas Digital, is excited to announce their first-ever hackathon event, Swarm, to take place in Boston October 27-28th. Swarm is also hosted with MassChallenge, The Ad Club, and sponsored by Space with a Soul, AT&T AdWorks, Google, Paypal Media Network, and InMobi.
Swarm is a hackathon initiative that harnesses collective intelligence to solve consumer challenges. Swarm enables talents, brands, and technology partners (platforms, APIs, open exchanges) to come together in a short space of time (48 hours) to create experiences / products and solutions that are relevant, fresh and insightful.
Participants may register as individuals (developer, designer, maker, strategist) or as a team. Each team will be given a brief the morning of the event, challenging them to solve a real client’s need by creating a working prototype on a mobile device using at least two APIs (Paypal, Google, Twitter, Foursquare, or Square). Participants will include students from design and technology schools, talents from a pool of experienced freelance tech and design community, and strategists.
“Swarm allows for the experimenting of ideas and building prototypes that would be hard to get done in a day-to-day work environment,” says Phuc Truong, Managing Director, US, Mobext. “For talents, it’s a great opportunity to work on a live brief, meet people, work on platforms, and interact with clients.”
Prizes will include 5,000 and a paid opportunity for the winning team to develop the prototype into a full-fledged product.
For more information, and to register for the event, please visit http://readytoswarm.com. Maximum of 4 members per team; maximum of 10 teams.
