The 2017 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winners for New England

EY sure knows how to throw a party.

This week, they hosted a formal gala to celebrate the 2017 New England EY Entrepreneur of the Year® nominees and winners. The program is in its 31st year and recognizes achievements in business leadership across a range of industries including; consumer, financial services, food and beverage, healthcare, innovative technology, professional services and marketing.

The program is spearheaded by Co-Directors, Kristin Keating, John Cantalupo and Justin Vogel, who outside of their full-time role at EY coordinate the award program.

The sentiment throughout the event was the admiration to the entrepreneurs who have taken personal and professional risks to start a business, get buy-in from others and impact customers all while creating jobs.

"I am extremely proud to be a part of a program that supports entrepreneurship and highlights the contributions these innovative business leaders have made to their local communities, the New England region and beyond” shared Keating. “This distinguished program, which culminates with the black tie gala, has truly become a premier business recognition and serves as a platform to connect these impressive entrepreneurs to each other, while celebrating their journeys and successes.”

During the award ceremony, each nominee was featured with a short video summarizing their business. While the companies range in age, size and industry many highlight the emphasis on building a company around hiring good people and creating a healthy and productive culture.

The finalists were selected based on an application that includes revenue growth and trajectory.  Then nine judges, including previous winners, interview the nominees and make the award selection.

One winner, Stefania Mallett, co-founder and CEO at ezCater shared, “We’re honored to be named EY Entrepreneurs of the Year.  It’s gratifying personally, even though really it’s our 250+ employees, 53,000+ caterers and restaurants, and countless customers who won this award.”
